28th February is celebrated as National Science Day in India, on this day in 1928; he discovered a phenomenon of scattering of photons which was later known as ‘Raman Effect’ after his name. After two years in 1930, he got Nobel Prize for this remarkable discovery and this was the first Nobel Prize for India in the field of Science. Exploratory strongly believes in introducing young children to the joy of learning science from an early age by stimulating their curiosity and by providing them a platform to showcase their talent and abilities. Exploratory is a unique and successful experiment in the field of innovative science education.

This year on the occasion of Science Day “Science Fair” was arranged by Muktangan Exploratory Science Centre, Nigdi. The “Science Fair” was open for all age groups – students, teachers, parents, senior citizens, community in general. The “Science Fair” was conducted on Monday, 26th February, 2018 in Manohar Vadhokar Sabhagruh, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Science Fair consisted of Inter-School Science-Math Project Competition, Science Based Games, Exhibition of Precious Gems, Quiz Corner, Stall of Science Toys and Models.

20 different schools from Pimpri Chinchwad area participated in inter school science maths project competition. Students applied their innovative ideas and invention in projects like button star foldable Electric Cycle, Without charger mobile charging Home 3 Charging System, E-toilet system to reuse water, to overcome future electricity need from microorganism, ice cream Vending machine, for measurement of angle in circle by, moving quadrilateral & arc of circle model.

The main attraction of “Science Fair” was exhibition of precious gems by gemologist Mr. Dinesh Kalra. He wonderfully explained how gems look in raw form and also after cutting and finishing; he has an awesome collection of very rare precious gems. He also explained how to check purity of gems by using various tools to students and parents.

Different types of science – math based games were arranged there for children to play and by playing their concept in science get cleared: parents also enjoyed many science based games. Students from Jnanaprabodhini which is regular for Muktangan course arranged wonderful display of science model and charts of Indian scientist and mathematician. In junior and senior group, prizes for inter school science-math project competition were won by CMS English medium school Nigdi; their ideas are innovative and they also apply it. Science fair was organized by Mrs. Leena Achari & her colleague.

Along with learning, Muktangan Exploratory Science Centre, Nigdi organizes many other activities like Inter-School Science-Maths Quiz Competitions, Inter-School Project competition, Diwali and Summer workshops, Nature trail, Study tour, “one day with exploratory” arranged specially for schools. MESC also provides preparation for and guidelines for “Homi Bhabha Young Scientist Exam” for theory and practical exam.
